LAUNCH MEETING OF TUBEHO NEZA AHEZA PROJECT

Today on 5^th July 2024, at Home Saint Jean Hotel, Caritas Rwanda through Caritas Nyundo Kibuye we made an official launch of Tubeho Neza Aheza project (Together for a Decent Life and Equality in a Healthy Environment in Rwanda). This launch was attended by District representative Vice Mayor incharge of social Affairs Madam UMUHOZA Pascasie, JADF officer,District Agronomist, representative of four sectors(Rugabano,Gashari, Mutuntu and Rwankuba), Parish priests of BIRAMBO, MUBUGA, NYANGE, MUKUNGU,GISOVU Parishes, soeurs Fille de la charite include one represent Slovenia, Director of Caritas Nyundo Kibuye,Coordinator of Development Department of Caritas Nyundo Kibuye, and Project staffs (2Field coordinators:RUKUNDO Christophe and KWIZERA Jean Damascene, each responsible for 2 sectors for the implementation of activities, 1 Gender Equality and Social inclusion Officer Madam MUKAMAGEZA Josephine and National coordinator Mr.UWIRAGIYE Emmanuel).

This official launch was started at 10:30 AM  where Director of Caritas Nyundo Kibuye Father Elie HATANGIBABAZI prayed for having an important project what will change or improve the life of project beneficiaries and he shared welcome remarks to all attendees or guests.

After this welcome remarks one of project staffs (Mr. RUKUNDO Christophe) presented an overview of the project by starting with project introduction as follows: Tubeho Neza Aheza project (Together for a Decent Life and Equality in a Healthy Environment in Rwanda) is financed by Ministry of Foreign and Affairs of Slovenia, Caritas Slovenia and other Slovenian partners (DAMAHAUS Prestige Companies&GeoCodis company), it will be implemented by Caritas Nyundo Kibuye with the collaboration of Caritas Rwanda together with local authorities of Karongi District and some parish priest representatives.

The project started from June 2024 and will take end in october 2026,the total value of this project is 602,979 Euro from the Ministry of Foreign and Affairs of Slovenia , the project will address the lack of access to and sustainable management of natural and financial resources and the problem of gender inequality and gender-based violence (GBV) among the poor in the rural hilly areas of Mutuntu, Gashari, Rugabano, Rwankuba and Rwankuba sectors in Karongi District, Western Rwanda. The project targets 1,595 Households includes 725 vulnerable adult people where (70% are of women) and 870 (30/cell) youngs. The project will indirectly work with 5 742 participants

He presented all main activities of the project as follows:

•      Training on Good agriculture practices ( GAP) through FFS

•      Establishment and use of demonstration gardens for training in agricultural practices

•      Purchase and distribution of small domestic animals: manure for gardening and generating income through the sale of offspring

•      Training of beneficiaries on small business plan and support them for starting some income generating activities

•      Distribution of solar lamp systems, irrigation pumps and improved cooking stoves

•      Educate mothers of children up to 5 years how to prepare nutritious meals for their children: Combat malnutrition and stunting and distribution of some needed food ingredients and materials

•      Establish environmental clubs in schools and train students on environment protection

•      Organise awareness-raising campaigns for the general public on environmental protection, mitigation and adaptation to climate change

•      Different activities related to women empowerment and anti GBV

 and he presented the project results like

•       Improve sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural practices and increase production of nutrient-rich food.

•      Increase awareness of environmental protection among program participants and community

•      Improve drinking water supply, sanitation, hygiene, and field irrigation by using available water resources efficiently.

After this presentation we shared all needed informations, suggestions with all attendees to achieve all project results where most of them promised their contribution during project implementation.

This project official launch was closed by Vice Mayor Asoc of Karongi District where she appreciated this new project contribution for improving the life of beneficiaries through all planned activities, she thanked Ministry of Foreign and Affairs of Slovenia, Caritas Slovenia, Caritas Rwanda, Caritas Nyundo Kibuye for their contribution in last projects because they improved the life of karongi district people and she promised their good collaboration during this project implementation.
